The Coral RiffsThe Coral Riffs might be the greatest worst band name of all time. Sometimes you hear better ones but Coral Riffs keeps you coming back for more. What sort of person could come up with something so great and terrible at the same time you ask? His name is Colin and he is a genius. Colin cranks out the hits when he isn't getting notified by his landlord that he has been playing acoustic guitar too loud in his room and is generating noise complaints from the neighbors. When he plays live he has this great portable lecternett that transforms his songs into heartbreaking AM radio hits. You never know what you're going to get when Colin starts playing (I've heard Beatles and Black Flag covers) but you do know its going to be good. You can't ask for people much finer than Colin and I'm proud to say that he is one of the reasons why I continue to live in Stevens Point.

Abnormal Psychology By The Coral Riffs MER 19 - 2009
One of Stevens Points's finest, the Coral Riffs aka Colin Bares presents a five song mini album that I'm incredibly psyched about. The songs explore the connection between isolation and creativity. Armed with a guitar, stray field recordings, a drum or two, and an immaculate sense of timing, Colin made a recording that is more than the sum of its parts. If you've ever seen Good Grief you know that Colin is a great songwriter, but on this album his songs really shine. This is home recording at its finest! The Coral Riff's MER debut will change lives. Check it. Listen here
